The Millennium Council of the Knights of Columbus
Serving the Catholic Communities of Eatontown, Oceanport and Tinton Falls
Council History
The Rev. James B. Coyle Knights of Columbus Council #12620 was chartered on January 1, 2000 with 41 members. The first Grand Knight was Gary L. Seals and the first Deputy Grand Knight Louis A. DeRosa, Jr. Rev. G. William Evans, Pastor, St. Dorothea’s RC Church was appointed as our first Chaplain.
Our council was named in honor of our past pastor Rev. James B. Coyle. Father Coyle was an inspiration to us all and lives in all of our memories.
Our council's meeting nights is the first and third Thursday of each month in the Rev. James B. Coyle Parish Center of St. Dorothea’s Church, Eatontown, NJ.
Our council was awarded the New Jersey State Council Community Activity Award at the May, 2000 State Convention. Although we were only 8 weeks into our Charter, we held a Benefit Pancake Breakfast for 2 of the Seton Hall January 2000 Fire Victims. We involved the local communities and businesses within the area for the Benefit. We raised $7,725 for one student’s Medical Fund and another’s Memorial Scholarship Fund. Wendy's Restaurant of Eatontown also joined us in having a special Seton Hall Fund Day. This event raised an additional $1000.
During August, 2000 , Supreme Council awarded the Council the Second Place International Community Service Award for the Seton Hall Fund Drive.
Hence, our Motto: Knights in Action
